Filing Labour Complaints in UAE: Understand Your Rights and Procedure

If your rights have been violated in the workplace, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has made it easier to file a labour grievance. Whether it is matters such as unpaid salaries, violations of contract terms, unfair dismissal, or hazardous working conditions, the UAE legal framework offers employees the means to access justice effectively and impartially.

Firstly, the workers may file a complaint through the MoHRE app, website, or calling 80060. Necessary documents may consist of your Emirates ID copies, employment contract, salary slips, and proof for any other evidence supporting the case of a dispute. Once it has been filed, the MoHRE mediators will attempt to solve the case in an amicable way before moving the case to a labour court in case.

Legal advisors stress that the workers must act immediately and document appropriately all communications and complaints. Labour disputes generally settle within a few weeks to a few months, depending upon the sophistication and cooperativeness of the parties involved. The workers are also allowed legal representation and translation services in many instances.

Results can be payment of dues, reinstatement, compensation, or contract termination with benefits. The UAE government is resolute in protecting labour rights with severe fines against companies that breach them. Being familiar with the process ensures that all employees—be they local or international—can enjoy their working experience with confidence and legal support.
