Dubai Police have rolled out state-of-the-art AI-based radar cameras across the city to catch traffic offences in real-time and penalize offenders. The clever systems are part of an overall strategy to improve road safety and put an end to irresponsible driving, making motorists comply with rules with even more care.
Among the top eight offenses indicated by the radars are speeding, mobile phone use while driving, running red lights, and tailgating. Each offence has its own fine, black points, and in aggravated cases, vehicle impoundment. To illustrate, speeding by more than 80 km/h can result in a significant fine of AED 3,000, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment.
Drivers are also penalized AED 800 for driving with a phone and AED 400 for not using a seatbelt. The AI system provides 24/7 supervision with no scope for human error or evasion of responsibility. Authorities emphasize that this drive is not merely a matter of fine but about promoting a culture of responsibility and awareness among drivers.
Citizens are advised to log on to the online portal of the Dubai Police to remain updated about their fine status and to learn about traffic rules in detail. With AI now actively monitoring roads, compliance is no longer a choice — it’s imperative.
