Digitize Your nol Card: Tap and Ride with Your Smartphone

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has launched a hassle-free method to digitize your nol card, where commuters can now use their smartphones to pay for public transport. The move is aimed at increasing convenience and decreasing the use of physical cards.

In order to digitize your nol card, you will require a compatible smartphone with Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities. This service is at present available for chosen Samsung and Huawei smartphones. Make sure that your device has an NFC capability and also ensure that you have the latest version of the nol Pay app.

For Samsung Users:

1. Launch the nol Pay application and click on ‘Get my nol card’.
2. Choose ‘Digitize my physical nol card’.
3. A message will let you know that Silver or Gold cards alone are eligible. Tap ‘Next’.
4. Put your physical nol card against the back of your phone. The app will copy the card’s information via NFC.
5. After the app reads the card, you’ll be prompted to take it away. The physical card will become invalid. Tap ‘Continue’ to finalize.
6. Wait a few minutes for the digital nol card to be issued. You’ll receive a notification once it’s ready.

For Huawei Users:

1. Launch the Huawei Wallet app and select the ‘+’ icon beside transportation cards.
2. Choose nol Silver or nol Gold card.
3. Tap on ‘Digitize an existing physical card’ and proceed with the on-screen instructions.
4. Tap ‘Continue’ and wait for a few minutes for the process to finish.

After digitizing, you can tap your phone to pay at Metro gates, buses, and other RTA services. Don’t forget, once you digitize, your physical nol card is not valid anymore. Keep your device charged and functional so you don’t face any mobility issues.
