The UAE begins more aggressive anti-smoking campaigns

In response to alarming global statistics revealing that smoking claims over 8 million lives annually, the UAE has significantly intensified its anti-smoking awareness campaigns. The initiative aims to reduce tobacco use and its devastating health impact on individuals and the community at large.

Health authorities across the UAE are collaborating on nationwide campaigns targeting smokers of all age groups, with a special focus on youth and vulnerable populations. These initiatives include public service announcements, school education programs, and social media outreach to highlight the dangers of smoking and secondhand smoke.

Smoking is a major cause of heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke, according to UAE doctors and health experts. Additionally, the government is urging people to use the nationwide support programs and smoking cessation clinics.

The UAE’s proactive stance aligns with global efforts under the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to building a healthier and smoke-free future.
