South African power-hitter Heinrich Klaasen has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, drawing the curtain on a career marked by explosive batting displays and match-winning innings. The 32-year-old Proteas star cited his desire to spend more quality time with family as the primary reason behind his decision.

Klaasen, recognised for his aggressive middle-order batting and quick wicketkeeping abilities, was essential in South Africa’s white-ball outfit, particularly in limited-overs forms. Over the years, he established himself as a dependable finisher and big-match performer, delighting fans with his aggressive stroke play.

In a heartfelt statement, Klaasen thanked Cricket South Africa, teammates, coaches, and fans for their support throughout his journey. “Wearing the Proteas jersey has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” he said, “but now it’s time to focus on my family and the next chapter.”

While stepping away from the international scene, Klaasen is expected to continue playing franchise cricket globally, with appearances in leagues like the IPL and SA20 still likely. His retirement marks the end of an era for the Proteas, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, professionalism, and power-packed performances.
