Scorching 44.6°C in Abu Dhabi as Rain Hits North

The UAE’s weather continues to keep residents on edge, with temperatures soaring to 44.6°C in Abu Dhabi even as rainfall hit parts of Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. The contrasting conditions—sweltering heat in the capital and rain-soaked roads up north—have prompted fresh weather advisories across the country.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), convective clouds led to light to moderate rain in several northern and eastern regions. In contrast, central and western areas experienced intense heat, pushing mercury levels above 44°C. The unusual mix of hot and wet weather has led to reduced visibility and slippery road conditions in many areas.

Authorities have issued advice to motorists to drive slowly, particularly in the early morning and nighttime hours, when roads can appear deceptively smooth. To avoid accidents during these unexpected weather spells, drivers should maintain safe distances, limit their speed, and avoid rapid braking.

With summer officially underway, UAE residents are bracing for more heatwaves and remaining alert to unforeseen weather changes. Officials advise the public to stay hydrated, restrict outside activity, and monitor weather conditions on a daily basis. As temperatures rise and clouds loom, safety and preparedness remain key to getting through the season unscathed.
