Karun Nair Responds to Shock India Test Recall Before England Tour

Karun Nair beams with joy — and rightly so — after being recalled to India’s Test team for the England tour later this year. The 33-year-old batsman, who had made himself immortal in cricket history by scoring a triple hundred against England in 2016, described the recall as a “very fortunate opportunity” and is eager to revive his red-ball career on the international stage.

It’s a time of thankfulness and famine,” Nair said, looking back at his long struggle to put on the whites once again. For his record 303*, Nair has been in and out of the limelight ever since, but gritty domestic performances and unshakeable determination have kept him in the mix. “I never lost hope. I always felt I’d get one more opportunity to play for my country,” he added.

What made the moment even sweeter was a lovely message from his close friend and teammate KL Rahul, who congratulated Nair with a personal note that was replete with warmth and encouragement. The two cricketers, both from Karnataka, have a long history on and off the field, and Rahul’s gesture lent an emotional twist to Nair’s comeback.

With India to play England in an uphill Test series away, everyone will be looking for Nair to provide stability and experience to the middle order. For supporters and selectors equally, his return is not merely a concession to past glory, but hope for redemption — and an opportunity for one of Indian cricket’s unsung warriors to pen a new page.
