The Abu Dhabi Department of Health has initiated a new aftercare service with the objective of supporting people undergoing recovery from addiction. The introduction marks Phase Two of the Halfway Houses initiative, a groundbreaking development towards ensuring long-term rehabilitation and social reintegration.
Aimed at transcending the boundaries between inpatient rehabilitation and complete reintegration, the aftercare service offers ongoing medical, psychological, and social care. It includes vocational training and community integration programs to make the recovering individuals confident and purposeful.
Abu Dhabi officials highlighted that this program demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s dedication to public health and comprehensive recovery. The aftercare program is derived from best global practices and involves daily monitoring, family therapy, and individually tailored rehabilitation plans.
Through the expansion of the Halfway Houses program, the emirate seeks to minimize relapse rates, eliminate stigma, and provide a healthy environment for those on the road to sobriety. The new service will increase the standard of living of patients as well as lead to a healthier and more inclusive society.
