With rising temperatures and changing weather patterns, summer has officially arrived in the United Arab Emirates. The seasonal shift, which marks the beginning of months characterised by extreme heat, humidity, and dust storms, was confirmed this week by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
It’s interesting to note that a brief period of fog will accompany the entrance of summer. Patchy fog and poor visibility are expected throughout the nation this weekend, especially in the early morning hours, according to the Met Office. To prevent accidents on roads affected by fog, drivers have been advised to exercise caution and pay attention to local authorities’ real-time updates.
Although many places are anticipated to see daytime temperatures well into the 40s °C, coastal areas may also see higher humidity levels, which would make the heat feel even more intense. The NCM cautions that in the UAE’s distinct desert environment, these swings between sunny, clear days and misty mornings are common during early summer transitions.
Health experts continue to recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding the heat during the daytime hours, and wearing sunscreen as locals prepare for the height of summer. Intense heat and vacation enthusiasm are expected throughout the Emirates in the coming weeks as schools are about to take a break and the travel season begins to kick up.
