Omani Citizens Earning RO 600 or Less Can Now Apply for Marriage Aid

Under the Sultan’s RO 11 million instruction, a marriage support programme for Omani citizens making RO 600 or less is now available for application.

June 30, 2025, Muscat Oman has introduced a nationwide marriage aid programme for Omani nationals making RO 600 or less per month, marking a major step in helping low-income residents and promoting stable family life. The initiative, part of a RO 11 million directive by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, was officially rolled out in Muscat this week.

“The Sultanate’s dedication to its youth is reflected in this scheme,” a ministry spokesperson stated. “We hope to foster an atmosphere where responsible family building is accessible and encouraged by reducing the financial burden of marriage.”

Applications will be assessed based on income level, family background, and financial need, with priority given to those with no other forms of social or family support. The program also aligns with broader government strategies to address unemployment and foster long-term social welfare.

The plan has received acclaim from social analysts who point out that it might decrease the constraints brought on by wedding costs, which have been rising significantly in recent years, and address delayed marriages.

Thousands of young Omani citizens are anticipated to gain from the marital assistance programme, which is a component of an expanding array of social assistance programmes motivated by Sultan Haitham’s goal of creating a more equal and inclusive Oman.
