Dubai Courts Launches Dedicated Unit to Protect Children’s Rights

New unit shifts from reactive to preventive approach for faster child protection response. Dubai Courts has launched a specialized unit aimed at protecting children’s rights, marking a major step forward in the emirate’s legal and social care framework. The initiative, announced on Sunday, reflects a proactive and preventive approach to child protection—ensuring early intervention in cases of abuse, neglect, or legal disputes involving minors.

The new unit is designed to streamline child-related legal procedures, accelerate responses to emergencies, and provide multidisciplinary support to vulnerable children. By integrating legal, psychological, and social services, the unit will offer a holistic system of care that prioritizes the well-being and safety of every child.

According to officials, the move is part of a wider effort to align the UAE’s child protection laws with international human rights standards, especially the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. “Our focus is on prevention, not just reaction,” said a Dubai Courts spokesperson, adding that the unit will work closely with schools, hospitals, and law enforcement agencies to identify risk factors early.

The announcement has been widely welcomed by legal experts and child advocacy groups, who say this shift will empower families and institutions to act swiftly in protecting children. The initiative also reinforces the UAE’s vision of becoming a model for child safety, legal justice, and human development.
