The newly released trailer for Project Hail Mary reveals Earth faces extinction as the sun begins dying from a mysterious cosmic infection. Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, a middle-school science teacher turned reluctant astronaut, awakened aboard a starship on a desperate mission to save humanity.

Grace, who proclaims, “I put the ‘not’ in astronaut!”, is tasked with traveling 11.9 light-years to find a solution. Despite his lack of space experience, he accepts the fate of the world depends on him.

Grace meets Rocky, an alien, mid-mission, and they develop an unlikely friendship that combines humour, intrigue, and science. What could otherwise be a lonely journey gains emotional depth via their companionship hype.

The picture, which is helmed by Spider-Verse creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and with a script by Drew Goddard of The Martian, promises a combination of emotional storytelling and exciting visuals. On March 20th, 2026, a theatrical and IMAX release is planned.
