Four people, including three children and the bus driver, were killed in a horrific school bus accident in Oman’s Izki district, Dakhiliyah governorate, according to the Royal Oman Police. According to reports, the car collided with a fixed item at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, overturned, and then burned.

Along with the 20-year-old driver, the tragic casualties included boys who were 6, 9, and 10 years old. All of them perished at the site. Twelve more children were hurt, four of them were badly injured and sent to local hospitals for treatment.

When emergency personnel quickly came, they put out the fire and helped the injured. While an official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision, the incident has reignited national discourse concerning road safety standards, particularly regarding student transport protocols in Oman .

The alarming frequency of school bus accidents has sparked calls from parents and community leaders for stricter regulations, including mandatory driver experience, installation of on-board cameras, and enhanced vehicle maintenance and monitoring systems to safeguard student passengers.
