The Calcutta High Court has ordered cricketer Muhammad Shami to pay ₹1.5 lakh a month to his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, and ₹2.5 lakh a month to their daughter, for a total of ₹4 lakh in maintenance per month. In comparison to a prior order of ₹50,000 and ₹80,000, this is a huge increase.
Hasin Jahan, a former model and KKR cheerleader, welcomed the decision, highlighting that she was forced to quit her career after marriage and is now without independent income . Her lawyer emphasized the ruling as a long-awaited relief after a legal fight dating back to 2018 .
When the trial court wraps up the main interim maintenance proceedings, Jahan’s supporters anticipate that the amount would be further hiked upward, possibly to ₹6 lakh.
