Flydubai has officially broken ground on a state-of-the-art Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Centre at Dubai South, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s drive toward operational excellence and autonomy. The massive 32,600 m² facility, which includes a hangar, advanced workshops, and office spaces, is slated for completion in Q4 2026.
Once up and running, it will significantly reduce aircraft downtime, accelerate maintenance turnaround, and optimize flydubai’s expanded Boeing 737 fleet. Built in collaboration with Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) and Group AMANA, the centre positions flydubai at the heart of Dubai’s growing aerospace ecosystem, near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The project is designed to meet stringent international standards and support over 600 technical specialists
flydubai Chief Executive Ghaith Al Ghaith said the investment reflects the airline’s commitment to “connectivity, innovation, growth, and operational efficiency.” COO Mick Hills added that the in-country facility will save costs, cut downtime, and reinforce fleet reliability—key advantages as the airline scales to more than 150 aircraft by 2030.
