His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the graduation ceremony of the latest cohort of the Government Accelerators Diploma on July 2. The programme, launched in April 2019, brings together teams from governmental, private, and academic sectors to collaboratively tackle pressing challenges and spur innovation.

Over the course of several months, the participants addressed 35 real-world challenges spanning government efficiency, quality-of-life improvements, community services, and knowledge dissemination. This year, the programme welcomed representatives from 12 federal entities, 18 local bodies, and two semi-government agencies.

At the ceremony, three noteworthy projects were recognised: the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Speed Limit Reduction System, which reduced severe accidents on specific roads by 100%; the Hayat organ donation campaign, which increased registrations in Fujairah by 50% in 100 days; and DEWA’s Robotic Process Automation initiative, which has saved 161,000 work hours and about AED 24 million since 2020.

With the help of almost 750 team members, the Government Accelerators Diploma has taught 217 participants from more than 135 businesses, tackling 121 distinct challenges since its launch. The programme is essential for developing national competences, encouraging innovative leadership, and improving government performance nationwide, as Sheikh Mohammed underlined.
