Air India Express Confirms Engine Fault After DGCA Flags Violations

Air India Express has officially admitted to an engine malfunction following a warning from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The admission comes after the DGCA discovered several operational violations during a routine audit conducted in October 2024. The regulatory authority had raised serious concerns over safety lapses, prompting immediate scrutiny of the airline’s technical and maintenance protocols.

According to reports, the DGCA investigation found disparities in flight safety records and anomalies in engine maintenance files. As a result of these conclusions, Air India Express received a formal notice requiring it to look into the matter and provide a report with remedial actions. Following an internal investigation, the airline admitted that one of its engines had a problem.

Air India Express told the public in a statement that tighter compliance measures and improved maintenance inspections are now being implemented, and that passenger safety is still its top concern. To make sure that such mistakes don’t happen again, the airline has also started a retraining programme for its technical employees.

In the meantime, the DGCA has issued a warning that more infractions could lead to harsher regulatory measures, such as the potential suspension of flight operations. According to industry analysts, this instance highlights the necessity of more control and ongoing surveillance throughout India’s expanding aviation sector.
