A strong explosion at a gas station in Rome early on Monday morning sent shockwaves around the Italian capital, injuring at least 25 people. The explosion, which was loud enough to be heard in other areas, happened just after eight in the morning, allegedly during a routine gasoline delivery. Rescue crews attempted to evacuate surrounding structures while firefighters fought the fire as emergency personnel raced to the scene.

According to initial reports, the explosion originated from a fuel tanker during refueling operations. The intense blast caused significant structural damage to the gas station and surrounding properties. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky and debris scattered.

To ascertain the precise cause of the explosion, local officials have initiated a comprehensive investigation. Officials have not ruled out alternative possibilities, but early conjecture points to a human error or a mechanical malfunction as the cause of the explosion. Forensic teams are searching the location for additional evidence, and the area is still roped off.

The mayor of Rome has voiced his sorrow about the tragedy and promised that victims will get the help and medical care they need. Public demands for more stringent safety standards at gas stations situated in crowded metropolitan areas have been rekindled by the explosion.
