As bilateral relations improve, Russia wants Saudis to be able to travel without a visa

Russia is thinking of allowing Saudi nationals to enter the country without a visa, which is a major diplomatic step that highlights the growing strategic and commercial ties between Riyadh and Moscow. The plan, which is presently being reviewed by the government, is part of a larger effort to improve bilateral cooperation in the areas of investment, energy, and tourism.

According to Moscow officials, negotiations are going well, and both parties are interested in relaxing travel restrictions to promote interpersonal communication and business potential. If put into effect, the policy would facilitate trade contacts, religious travel, and tourism while providing Saudi nationals with better access to Russia’s expanding hospitality and cultural industries.

The possible visa exemption is consistent with Russia’s plan to fortify ties with non-Western allies. In the meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is promoting international travel for its residents and growing international ties as part of its Vision 2030 reform drive. Two of the biggest oil producers in the world would reach a diplomatic milestone with a visa-free agreement.

Analysts see the suggested action as a powerful indication of trust and increasing interdependence, even if no formal schedule has been disclosed. Anticipating new routes and tourism campaigns between the two countries, travel firms and airline carriers are already getting ready for a potential spike in demand.
