Texas Flood Disaster: Camp Kills 27 Children, Bringing the Total to Over 80

As the state’s catastrophic flooding catastrophe intensifies, a Texas children’s summer camp has verified the heartbreaking deaths of 27 children, bringing the total number of fatalities to almost 80. Officials have warned that further thunderstorms and flash floods are predicted in the days ahead, and emergency personnel are still searching the damaged areas.

Late at night, heavy rains broke through the surrounding levees, causing flooding to overrun the children’s camp besides a river in Central Texas. There wasn’t much time for evacuation because many of the kids were in their cottages sleeping when the water flooded in. Rescue crews and camp counsellors were able to save several people.

To aid in recovery efforts, state officials have sent out National Guard forces, helicopters, and high-water rescue teams. Numerous counties continue to have evacuation orders in effect, and thousands of inhabitants have been forced to take refuge in schools and emergency centres.

Weather conditions are still unpredictable, according to forecasters, and the already saturated area is expected to see more intense rainfall. President Biden has offered federal support, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of emergency, vowing to hold a full investigation into safety lapses at the affected camp.
