Kuwait has signed road maintenance contracts worth $1.31 billion (400 million dinars) with 18 local and foreign companies. The contracts were formalized at a ceremony held in the Sabhan industrial area on Wednesday and are set for a three-year duration.

“This is the first time in Kuwait that 18 contracts have been signed, covering all areas of Kuwait,” said Khaled Al-Osaimi, head of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, as reported by Reuters.

The three-year contracts aim to address the poor road conditions that have become a significant source of daily frustration for residents in the oil-rich nation. Among the companies participating in the project are Turkey’s Limak, Qatari Al-Mohannadi for Roads, and the Kuwaiti-listed Combined Group Contracting Company, among others.
