Authorities have booked the resort management in charge of running the doomed trip after two Patna-based women tourists died in a horrific watercraft accident at Sarpanpally Lake in Telangana. Serious concerns were raised over the facility’s safety procedures when the deceased drowned when their boat overturned during what was supposed to be a routine lake excursion.
The boat reportedly got unstable and overturned during the tourists’ leisurely excursion. According to preliminary investigations, the deaths were caused in part by a lack of skilled people and carelessness in distributing life jackets. In the immediate aftermath, witnesses also complained about the resort’s staff’s inadequate response to the emergency.
Officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the resort under sections related to negligence and culpable homicide, and the property has been temporarily sealed pending further investigation. Rescue teams managed to recover the bodies after an extensive search operation, while grief-stricken families have demanded swift justice.
The Telangana tourism department has announced a review of safety protocols across all water-based tourist attractions, stressing that such tragedies must be prevented through stricter regulations and regular audits.
