At the High Security Printing (HSP) Latin America conference in Rio de Janeiro, St. Kitts and Nevis won the title of “Best New Passport,” which has never happened in an OECS nation. The accolade honours the country’s new ePassport, which was introduced in November 2024 and boasts a robust polycarbonate data page, marking a significant improvement in longevity and tamper resistance.

Developed in partnership with the Canadian Bank Note Company, the passport is ICAO-compliant and includes enhanced security features such as laser engraving, see-through windows, optically variable inks, tactile elements, and integrated RFID antenna . These upgrades reinforce the document’s resistance to tampering and wear.

This acknowledgement is a component of St. Kitts and Nevis’ larger initiatives under its fourth-generation border management strategy, which also includes self-clearance kiosks at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, digital services, and a new biometric issuing system.

Prime Minister Terrance Drew praised the honour as a testament to technological progress and national pride, highlighting the government’s dedication to border security, citizen identity protection, and international interoperability.
