NCM Alerts: UAE Inland Temperatures Will Reach 46°C This Weekend

A sweltering heatwave is predicted to engulf the United Arab Emirates this weekend, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Inland temperatures are predicted to reach a top of 42–46°C, which is a significant increase from the current highs of 38–42°C.

The intensity will also be felt in coastal and island regions, where daytime highs will reach 38–42°C, while highland areas will be somewhat cooler at 35–39°C. The sky will be largely clear to partly cloudy, with mild to moderate winds of 10 to 35 km/h from south-west to north-west.

Sea conditions across both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are set to be slight, offering some relief for maritime enthusiasts. However, the extreme heat will necessitate taking care, such as drinking enough of water, avoiding prolonged exposure, and adhering to statutory heat safety regulations.

Residents are advised to take the heat seriously, especially during the peak hours of the day. Cooling centres, public announcements, and awareness campaigns are being amplified to help residents, workers, and vulnerable groups stay safe amid this extreme temperature surge.
