UAE Sets Dh6,000 Fee Rule for Expat Students in Public Schools

The UAE has implemented a compulsory fee commitment of Dh6,000 per student every year for expat kids joining public schools with immediate effect. The policy seeks to harmonize education fees across emirates while ensuring foreign residents’ access to quality education. Expat parents are now required to provide evidence of financial preparedness upon registration, with installment options being made available by designated banking partners.

The decision follows as public schools experience rising demand from middle-income expats drawn to Arabic-language curricula and Emirati cultural exposure. Though fees are still lower than private school means, some parents fear further financial burden amid increasing living expenses. The government assures that Emirati students still enjoy free education according to national policy.
