France lit up in patriotic splendour as it celebrated Bastille Day, its national holiday, with dazzling airshows, military parades, and vibrant fireworks across major cities. The July 14th festivities, commemorating the 1789 storming of the Bastille prison, remain a powerful symbol of liberty, unity, and modern French identity.

In Paris, crowds gathered along the Champs-Élysées to witness the military parade, led by President Emmanuel Macron and featuring elite troops, tanks, and an awe-inspiring flypast by fighter jets leaving streaks of blue, white, and red in the sky. Foreign dignitaries were also in attendance, underlining France’s global diplomatic stature.

As evening fell, fireworks lit up the Eiffel Tower, accompanied by live music and cultural performances. Local celebrations were staged in smaller towns throughout France, including historical reenactments, public feasts, and communal dances.

Beyond the spectacle, Bastille Day is also a moment of reflection. It honours France’s revolutionary roots while celebrating the enduring values of freedom, fraternity, and democracy that still define the Republic today. The day acts as a vibrant reminder of national resilience, cultural pride, and unity in diversity.
