The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has officially approved 167 new book titles from a competitive pool of nearly 2,500 submissions, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the publishing industry and supporting creative voices across the Arab world and beyond.
This approval is part of a broader initiative under SBA’s strategic vision to elevate the quality, diversity, and accessibility of literary content in the region. The selected titles span multiple genres and languages, showcasing emerging and established authors in fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, academic works, and translations.
According to SBA, the selection process was rigorous and merit-based, focusing on originality, literary merit, and potential cultural impact. The authority continues to serve as a catalyst for literary innovation, offering a platform for writers, illustrators, and publishers to thrive.
Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, stated:
“This initiative is a cornerstone of our mission to strengthen the regional publishing ecosystem. By curating high-quality content, we ensure that readers of all ages have access to meaningful and diverse reading experiences.”
The initiative is closely aligned with Sharjah’s role as a UNESCO World Book Capital (2019) and reflects the emirate’s ongoing efforts to promote reading culture and intellectual exchange across the UAE and the Arab world.
Many of the approved titles will be featured at the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), one of the largest book fairs in the world, offering authors and publishers a global platform to showcase their work.
