With this card, users can link it to their DEWA account, allowing the EV charging fees to be incorporated into their monthly water and electricity bill. The UAE is actively promoting the use of EVs over traditional petrol cars, and efforts are underway to expand the EV charging infrastructure throughout the emirate. Recently, during Gitex 2024, DEWA awarded its first two charge point operator (CPO) licenses to Tesla and UAEV.

Here’s everything you need to know to register your EV with DEWA and obtain your green charging card:

Steps to Create Your EV Account

  1. Log In or Register:
    • Existing DEWA customers can log in using their DEWA ID or UAE Pass on the authority’s website or smart app.
    • New users must obtain a DEWA ID or utilize UAE Pass to apply for the service.
  2. Apply for an EV Account:
    • Visit DEWA’s website to apply for your EV account.
  3. Receive Notification:
    • After your application, you will receive a notification number via email and SMS. This number can be used to track the status of your request.
  4. Delivery of Green Charger Card:
    • The green charger card will be delivered to you via courier within three working days of creating your account.

Fees

  • Security Deposit: A security deposit of AED 500 is required for non-commercial individual or business use of EVs.
  • Delivery Charges: There is an additional delivery charge of AED 20.

By following these steps, you can smoothly transition to driving an electric vehicle in Dubai and enjoy the convenience of easy charging with your new green charger card!
