During Mumbai’s monsoon rains, an Air India plane skids off the runway

An Air India flight skidded off the runway at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Monday amid intense monsoon rains, triggering panic among passengers. Fortunately, all onboard were reported safe, and no injuries were sustained in the incident. Emergency protocols were activated immediately to secure the aircraft and assist passengers.

According to airport officials, the slippery runway conditions due to persistent heavy rainfall contributed to the incident. The aircraft came to a halt safely at the end of the runway, and all passengers were promptly evacuated. The flight was arriving from an undisclosed domestic location and was carrying over 100 passengers at the time of landing.

Since then, a passenger advisory has been released by the CSMIA, advising passengers to check flight statuses beforehand and be ready for any delays or cancellations. Following inspection and clearance, airport operations quickly resumed with the prompt deployment of ground crew and emergency teams.

Monsoon-related disruptions are common at Mumbai Airport during this season, and aviation authorities are ramping up efforts to ensure safety protocols are strictly enforced. Passengers are advised to stay updated through official channels and follow travel alerts during the ongoing heavy weather conditions.
