Travellers in the UAE Adjust Wisely as the Schengen Heatwave Reaches 46°C

UAE citizens taking vacations overseas are reconsidering their travel plans as Europe erupts in a record-breaking heatwave, with temperatures reaching 46°C in some Schengen nations. From adjusting sightseeing times to seeking refuge in cooler, coastal towns, travelers are finding creative ways to beat the scorching heat.

Many UAE residents shared that they’ve shifted their plans to early mornings or late evenings, avoiding midday sun altogether. Popular tourist destinations like Rome, Paris, and Barcelona remain busy, but travelers now prefer shaded parks, indoor museums, and air-conditioned malls over open-air attractions.

Travel agencies across the UAE have reported an uptick in last-minute changes to European bookings, especially for inland cities experiencing the brunt of the heatwave. Cooler destinations such as Switzerland, the French Alps, and the northern coast of Spain have seen increased demand as holidaymakers chase milder climates.

Doctors advise UAE tourists to stay hydrated, wear loose clothing, and avoid extended sun exposure. Meanwhile, European authorities have issued heat alerts and safety guidelines to help tourists and locals alike cope with the extreme weather. Despite the heat, UAE travelers remain determined to make the most of their summer holidays—just with a few smart tweaks.
