Fraudulent Deal Lands Man in Legal Trouble
An Abu Dhabi court has ordered a man to return Dh72,000 after being found guilty of deceiving a tenant in a rental scam. The defendant used fraudulent documentation and false claims to convince the victim to transfer the amount for a non-existent property lease.

Victim Uncovers Scam After Failed Access
The case came to light when the tenant attempted to access the supposed rental property and discovered that the unit was already occupied. Upon further investigation, it became clear that the documents provided by the scammer were forged, leading the victim to file a legal complaint.

Court Decision Based on Intent and Evidence
The defendant intentionally misled the victim with fake contracts and forged details, the court found. The court decided in support of a complete refund and assessed additional legal expenses on the con artist due to the significant financial and psychological harm to the complaint.

Authorities Encourage Prudence in Rental Deals
Officials have since advised the public to verify property listings and rental agents through official channels before making any payments. The case is a sobering reminder of how crucial it is to perform due diligence in the UAE real estate market.
