World Reactions to Israel’s Deadly Revenge Strikes on Iran

Paris: The US and Britain have called for “de-escalation” following Israel’s recent military strikes against Iranian targets, which resulted in casualties. In these retaliatory strikes, Israeli aircraft targeted military bases and missile sites across various regions in Iran, responding to a missile barrage earlier this month that left two Iranian soldiers dead.

US: The United States urged Iran to cease its attacks on Israel to help break the cycle of violence. National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett emphasized that Israel’s actions were an “exercise in self-defense,” focusing on military targets rather than populated areas, and clarified that the US did not partake in the operation. He stated, “It is our aim to accelerate diplomacy and de-escalate tensions in the Middle East region.”

UK: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also called for “de-escalation,” asserting that Iran should refrain from retaliating against Israel’s strikes. He noted, “I think we need to be really clear that Israel does have the right to defend itself, but we are urging, and have been urging all sides to show restraint.”

UAE: The UAE condemned the military targeting of Iran and expressed concern about escalating tensions in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for restraint and dialogue, stating, “Exercising wisdom and avoiding actions that may expand the conflict are crucial.”

Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia condemned Israel’s actions and warned against further escalation, reiterating its “firm position rejecting escalation of the conflict in the region,” which it stated “threatens the security and stability of countries and peoples.”

Syria: Syria expressed solidarity with Iran, stating it supported “Iran’s legitimate right to defend itself and protect its territory.”

Iraq: Iraq accused Israel of expanding conflict and criticized the global community for its inaction. Government spokesman Basim Alawadi condemned the “aggressive policies” of Israel, citing the “international community’s silence.”

Jordan: Jordan described the strikes as “a dangerous escalation” that violated international law and Iran’s sovereignty. The foreign ministry called on the international community to take immediate action to halt Israeli aggression.

Pakistan: Pakistan condemned the Israeli strikes, claiming they “undermine the path to regional peace and stability” and represent a “dangerous escalation.”

Hamas: The Palestinian group Hamas condemned Israel’s actions, labeling them as “a blatant violation of Iranian sovereignty and an escalation that threatens the security of the region.”
