Sharjah will extend paid parking up to midnight hours across several areas

Midnight parking in Sharjah has become easy for residents and visitors.

Sharjah City Municipality had recently altered parking hours at the paid parking zones. Parking spots will now be open for customers from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. This initiative is starting on November 1st. Other car parks will remain open from 8 am to 10 pm. The new timing is applicable during Ramadan as well.

It further stated that Sharjah faces an influx of tourists coupled with increasing business activities as well. Therefore, their public parking requirement is being increased as well. Increased hours in these public areas will improve management.

Al Qaed said that this decision was based on the public comments about parking problems after 10 pm. They compared their system with other cities with similar parking rules. The more Sharjah grows, the more important it will be to organize parking for extended hours to meet the demands of residents and visitors.

Many customers of local restaurants cannot find parking after 10 pm. It becomes difficult for them to go back home. The new parking hours will not change the subscription fees. The cost will be the same, but subscribers will get two extra hours of parking each day.

This means they will have 16 hours of free parking instead of 14. The municipality also made a survey to determine if people wanted the extended hours. Surprisingly, a huge percentage agreed with the extended hours.

It will inform the public of the new hours through SMS messages as well as by posting leaflets on parked cars. It wants everyone to know the new hours have changed.

New paid parking lots have been introduced this year alone at 16,000. In total, there are 86,000 within Sharjah City. Sharjah Municipality continues to improve its parking infrastructures for public use.
