From 1 January, the Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission along with the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organisation will launch a standard USB-C charging port. It will be used for all mobile phones and other electronic equipment.
The Kingdom will continue to evolve with a phased mandate that makes life easy and cost-effective for its consumers. This initiative will also support the country’s sustainability goals.
The new rules for the use of USB ports will change to USB-C ports in all compatible devices. This type of charging device will make the compatibility of all devices simpler. It allows the charging of a number of various devices by using one single cable.
The consumers, therefore, will not face extra cost charges for using device-specific chargers. Instead, they will see improved reliable charging and quick data transfer capabilities. This universal charger fulfills all the standards of high-quality technical performance.
This is planned by Saudi officials and fits in with the country’s Vision 2030 plan. The less discharge of cables will prevent environmental pollution. This would also encourage Saudi Arabia to take the leadership role in green technology and responsible environmental programs.
Further development stages may include the extension of the USB-C standard for laptops, tablets, and other portable electronic devices. Officials are keen on improving standards for product quality. They aim to fulfill the dynamic needs of the consumers, with an added focus on eco-friendly principles.
