Dubai Internet City (DIC) marks its 25th anniversary. It is known as the region’s leading tech hub. It was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on October 29, 1999. It has gone through much impressive growth and success. This city has a great influence on the Middle East’s digital scene.

A part of TECOM Group, Dubai Internet City now accommodates over 4,000 businesses. It has evolved into a thriving ecosystem for more than 31,000 tech professionals. Its dedication to promoting innovation has been strengthened by AED 1.9 billion in investments. It is aimed at addressing the constantly changing demands of global technology leaders.

Catalyst for the Knowledge Economy

DIC emerged from Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to position Dubai at the forefront of the digital revolution. It helps in facilitating socioeconomic change through technology. In 2023, he designated the anniversary of DIC’s launch as “World Coding Day,”. It highlights the city’s crucial role in global tech advancement.

Today, Dubai Internet City acts as a conduit for both multinational corporations and innovative start-ups. It has customer numbers increased by over 17.5% in the first nine months of 2024. It explains Dubai’s attractiveness to the international tech community.

A Hub for Industry Leaders

Dubai Internet City is dubbed the “home of giants,”. Dubai Internet City has attracted global leaders such as Oracle, SAP, Dell, Amazon, Google, and LinkedIn. It promotes a vibrant environment where technology is continuously evolving.

It has 19 R&D centers from companies like IBM, HP, and Cisco. DIC has also drawn significant players in fintech, cloud computing, and AI, including Amazon Web Services, LinkedIn, and Tencent.

Recent expansions by Microsoft had announced an AED 5.5 billion investment. The establishment of a new Salesforce office in DIC further reinforces Dubai’s commitment to digital advancement.
