Dubai Safari Park recently held its inaugural Sustainability Challenge. It invites students from across the UAE to promote awareness about sustainability and animal conservation. More than 26 schools took part in the program. Students were quite creative in crafting animal sculptures from recyclable materials.

Credence High School took the top prize with their remarkable gorilla sculpture. It was affectionately named ‘G1’. It will now be permanently displayed in the park for all to see. This artistic creation represents the significance of sustainability and wildlife protection. It shows the influence of environmental education on young people.

Ahmad Al Zarouni is the Director of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities at Dubai Municipality. He commended the students’ efforts by describing it as an inspiring exhibition of dedication. It will help to safeguard the planet and its rich ecosystems.

This initiative is part of Dubai Safari Park’s larger commitment to sustainability. It encompasses various green innovations throughout its facilities. Once a landfill site, the park has evolved into an eco-friendly haven. It has implemented practices such as solar-powered operations, electric vehicles, water recycling, and organic composting.

This park is home to over 3,000 animals and six themed zones. The park also offers the “Learn in the Wild” program to students. It provides the school groups with information on the natural world. The competition and the park’s initiatives show Dubai’s dedication to sustainability.

The competition aims to motivate future generations to take responsible actions for the environment. The ‘G1’ sculpture stands as a powerful reminder to tackle global environmental issues. It illustrates the outcomes of environmental conservation.
