Dubai has launched a Dh30 billion initiative. This initiative is aimed at improving its rainwater drainage system. This modern drainage system eliminates flooding risks due to severe weather patterns. This project is controlled by Dubai Municipality. The project will enhance existing drainage systems. New infrastructure will be constructed to address the flooding risks. This structure will prevent the harm from storm and rain in the emirate.

The “Tasreef” project will include modern technologies. This project will have a vast network of tunnels and drainage channels. This project is inspired by the system developed for Expo Dubai to effectively manage rainwater in critical areas. This comprehensive initiative will span the entire city. It will include residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

This project will fulfill the goal of preventing flood-prone regions from experiencing flood issues. Additionally, a 10.3-kilometer tunnel is planned to ensure efficient water runoff from key locations. These locations include Al Maktoum International Airport and Jebel Ali. In these two places, effective flood management is essential for smooth operations.

Dubai Municipality is collaborating with experts in climate and hydrology. It will guarantee that the new system is resilient to future climate changes. Officials stress that this rainwater drainage project represents a strategic investment in the city’s sustainability. This project aim to protect residents, businesses, and infrastructure from the effects of climate change.
