The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a fog alert. The motorists are advised to exercise caution due to dense fog that is significantly reducing visibility in various areas.

The fog began forming late Sunday night and is anticipated to last until 9:30 am on Monday. The NCM has warned that visibility may worsen in some coastal and inland regions, creating challenges for drivers.

The Abu Dhabi Police have put in place temporary speed restrictions To enhance safety on fog-affected roads. They advised the drivers to lower speed limits on specific routes within the emirate.

Electronic information boards along major highways and city roads are displaying these adjusted limits, reminding drivers to remain alert. For instance, the speed limit on Sheikh Hazzaa Bin Sultan The First Road (Ghayathi – Zayed City) has been reduced to 80 km/h.

Additionally, Dubai Police have issued their advisory. They are urging motorists to be cautious, reduce their speed, and follow safety guidelines.

They highlighted the importance of keeping a safe distance from other vehicles and using fog lights when necessary to navigate through low-visibility conditions safely. The NCM and police authorities throughout the UAE have been actively using social media to share real-time updates.

The NCM is also sharing precautionary messages to ensure the safety of all road users. Motorists are encouraged to check weather conditions before setting out and to stay updated with local traffic information.

As winter approaches, the UAE often experiences seasonal fog, especially during the early morning hours, making road safety a top priority. Authorities are urging both residents and tourists to remain vigilant, as fog is expected to intermittently affect visibility in the upcoming weeks.
