Sharjah has marked a significant milestone with the graduation of its first cohort from the Launch Track training program. They celebrated the future leaders of the publishing industry.

This event took place during the 14th annual Sharjah Publishers Conference. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi was the Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA). She recognized 20 emerging publishers for their accomplishments.

The Launch Track program is a key initiative by the SBA in collaboration with the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) and the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone (SPC Free Zone). It attracted over 140 applicants this year, highlighting the strong interest in professional development within the publishing field.

The chosen participants underwent a rigorous six-week training program. The program was designed to provide them with the vital skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a changing industry.

At the graduation ceremony, Sheikha Bodour spoke about the significance of this achievement for the UAE’s publishing sector. “Today marks an important milestone in our journey to build a resilient and forward-looking publishing sector in the UAE,” she stated.

She further added, “Through the Onshur program, we’re empowering a new generation of publishers to lead with passion, adaptability, and vision. I am immensely proud of these graduates, whose dedication will help strengthen our industry and expand its horizons, adding fresh perspectives to the UAE’s cultural and creative landscape.”

Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, praised Sheikha Bodour’s transformative impact on the UAE’s publishing sector. He noted the ongoing growth and resilience of the industry.

Khus proudly expressed confidence that the new graduates would greatly enhance the publishing scene in Sharjah and beyond. He was hopeful that the graduates would establish the emirate as a center for creative talent.
