Dubai: Afghanistan teenager Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a special talent, and the mystery spinner lived up to expectations by spinning a web around Bangladesh, who suffered a stunning loss in the first of the three One-Day Internationals at the Sharjah Stadium on Wednesday.

With the Sharjah Cricket Stadium reaching the landmark 300th international contest, the occasion brought out the best in Ghazanfar. He finished with a remarkable six-wicket haul, effectively dismantling the Bangladesh batting lineup and guiding Afghanistan to a commanding 92-run victory.

Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the contributions of key players. “Quite happy about the performance. It was good and looking forward to the next two games. Nabi was really positive. Our discussion was that if we scored 220, it would be a good score and the bowlers did their job,” Shahidi told the broadcasters after the match.

Mohammad Nabi, who has been a cornerstone of the team with his all-round abilities, played a significant role in setting a competitive target. His experience and positivity were instrumental in building the innings that set the stage for Ghazanfar’s heroics with the ball. Shahidi also praised the young spinner, saying, “Ghazanfar is a special talent, good future for Afghanistan. We have a lot of youngsters. We have other options available as back-ups.”
