If you’re having problems at work, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) advises employees not to leave their jobs without a valid reason. This initiative is part of a campaign to raise awareness about the issue of ‘unlawful absence from work’.

Key Points:
Legal Risks of Absence:
Leaving work without a legitimate reason can result in serious legal repercussions, including accountability, exploitation, or safety hazards. The MOHRE addressed both private sector and domestic workers in a social media post on November 4.

MOHRE’s Advisory: “If you are an employee or a domestic worker, be aware that leaving your job for an illegal reason may lead to an unlawful status in the UAE, resulting in legal accountability, exploitation, or safety risks. If you face any issues, stay in your job and reach out to MOHRE’s Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre at 80084 for help,” the Ministry stated.

Steps to Take if Facing Issues at Work:
Stay at Work:

Avoid leaving your job without a valid reason. Remaining at work can help you steer clear of legal complications and maintain your lawful status in the UAE.

Contact MOHRE:

For any workplace issues or disputes, reach out to MOHRE’s Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre at 80084. They provide guidance and support for resolving workplace concerns.

Understand Your Rights:

Get to know the UAE Labour Law, which specifies certain conditions under which workers can leave their jobs without needing to resign formally or serve a notice period. Being aware of your rights can help you make better decisions.

Seek Mediation:

If you have unresolved disputes, mediation services are available to assist in resolving issues amicably between employers and employees.

Importance of Legal Awareness:
By following the appropriate channels and seeking help, workers can safeguard themselves against the potential risks linked to unlawful absence from work. MOHRE’s advisory aims to ensure that both employees and employers are informed.
