Red Alert: Foggy Conditions in UAE Require Caution for Residents

On Friday, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert due to ongoing foggy conditions in the UAE. A red alert signifies that residents should be very cautious, as the weather can become severe.

The weather department informed the public about decreasing horizontal visibility, which may drop even more in some coastal and inland areas until 9:00 AM.

As the UAE moves into winter, temperatures are starting to cool, making the weather more comfortable. However, the recent foggy mornings have prompted authorities to lower speed limits for the safety of drivers.

Abu Dhabi Police shared a message on X, urging drivers to be careful due to the low visibility caused by fog. Motorists are encouraged to pay attention to changing speed limits shown on electronic signs.

Today’s temperatures will be slightly cooler, reaching a high of 37ºC, down from yesterday’s 38ºC. In some inland areas, temperatures could drop to as low as 17ºC.

While the forecast predicts foggy conditions in several parts of the country this morning, the overall weather is expected to be fair, with occasional clouds throughout the day.

By nightfall, humidity levels are expected to rise, leading to potential fog or mist in some coastal and inland areas on Saturday morning.

Light to moderate winds are anticipated across the country, with the sea remaining calm in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
