The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s largest content creation event, has launched applications for the prestigious “One Billion Award,” a million-dollar prize recognizing outstanding content creators.
As the largest award of its kind, the One Billion Award is designed to promote the positive impact of content creation and encourage creators who produce meaningful content that drives change and inspires others.
Interested applicants can submit their applications through the 1 Billion Followers Summit website at www.1billionsummit.com by the deadline of 30th November 2024. The winner will be announced during the 2025 Summit on 13th January 2025.
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, shared, “This award embodies the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to establish the UAE as a global hub for innovative content creation.
It serves as an inspiring platform for new voices and promotes the positive change they can bring, while highlighting the opportunities young people have to shape their future through compelling, relatable content.”
Al Gergawi highlighted the One Billion Award as a crucial step in promoting impactful and positive content creation. “It aligns with the Summit’s goals of fostering knowledge, encouraging innovation, and building a global network of creators and influencers. This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to meaningful change and prosperity,” he added.
Applicants must submit detailed information about their projects, including their history and key concepts. The award is also open to third-party nominations for creators who contribute positively to their communities, promoting messages of social good, empathy, and care.
The winner will be revealed at the closing ceremony of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, hosted by Dubai’s New Media Academy from 11th to 13th January 2025, under the theme “Content for Good.”
The 1 Billion Followers Summit has laid out eligibility criteria, inviting applicants whose content positively impacts society. Content should offer scientific, cultural, humanitarian, and social value, inspire minds, promote unity, and support sustainability, compassion, and empathy. It should also be original, innovative, and adhere to social media platform standards, with strong engagement from a broad audience.
The judging process for the One Billion Award will begin from 1st December to 15th December 2024, where a panel will select 10 finalists. Public voting will then open from 16th to 31st December, allowing the public to vote for their favorite projects. Votes will be tallied by the judges on 11th and 12th January 2025, with the winner announced during the Summit’s closing ceremony on 13th January 2025.
The 2024 edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit attracted over 7,000 participants, including 3,000 content creators from 95 countries. It generated over 300 million social media interactions and created numerous partnerships between creators and over 200 production companies. The summit’s hashtag #1BillionSummit garnered 489 million interactions.
The 2025 Summit will feature three specialized tracks technology, economy, and content offering tailored experiences for both amateur and professional creators. These tracks aim to streamline learning and networking, enhancing the overall summit impact on content creation and innovation.
With a goal to reach over a billion people worldwide, the 1 Billion Followers Summit brings together top global influencers, exploring how new media can drive positive societal change and fuel sustainable growth for nations.
