530,000 Expats in Kuwait Face Transaction Freeze Without Mandatory Fingerprinting

As Kuwait’s December 31 deadline for mandatory biometric fingerprinting draws near, 530,000 expatriates still need to complete this essential procedure, putting them at risk of losing access to government and banking services. The biometric system, introduced by Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, is part of a broader initiative designed to improve national security and enhance service efficiency.

Reports indicate that 2.1 million expats have already complied with this requirement. Those who fail to meet the deadline will encounter restrictions on vital transactions, such as accessing banking services, renewing residency permits, and handling government-related paperwork. Authorities are urging those who have not yet completed their fingerprinting to avoid the last-minute rush, as service centers expect a spike in applicants as the cut-off date approaches.

The biometric fingerprinting mandate underscores Kuwait’s commitment to ensuring accurate resident data, bolstering security measures, and streamlining service delivery for the country’s substantial expat community.
