Qatar Denies Withdrawing from Gaza Ceasefire Mediation, Temporarily Pauses Efforts

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted media claims that the country has completely withdrawn from its role in mediating a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari, the Ministry’s spokesperson, clarified that Qatar has only temporarily paused its mediation efforts.

This decision to pause was made after the latest round of talks, which occurred 10 days ago, yielded no progress. Dr. Al Ansari noted that Qatar had communicated to all parties involved that it would stop its efforts if an agreement could not be reached at that time.

The spokesperson stressed that Qatar has not fully withdrawn from the mediation process but is awaiting “willingness and seriousness” from all sides in the negotiations. The Kingdom remains committed to achieving peace in Gaza, but Qatar will not resume its mediation efforts until it observes a genuine commitment from all parties to reach a lasting ceasefire agreement.

This situation arises amid increasing international concern over the intensifying conflict, with Qatar continuing to play a crucial role in regional peace initiatives. As the circumstances remain unstable, Qatar’s leadership has made it clear that any future advancements will hinge on the commitment of all involved parties to pursue a resolution.
