In a significant move to enhance the UAE’s humanitarian efforts, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024, establishing the UAE Aid Agency. This agency, which is linked to the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, has been granted full legal authority and independence to oversee the nation’s foreign aid initiatives, with a focus on fostering stability, recovery, and development in crisis-affected regions.
The UAE Aid Agency has a comprehensive mandate to carry out official government support programs abroad, prioritizing urgent needs such as disaster relief, post-conflict recovery, capacity building, and sustainable development initiatives. This agency marks a significant advancement in the UAE’s foreign aid strategy, enhancing its capacity to respond quickly and effectively to global humanitarian challenges.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, expressed his support for the agency’s launch, stating, “The UAE Aid Agency continues the enduring humanitarian legacy of our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This agency embodies the UAE’s commitment to tackling pressing humanitarian issues and promoting sustainable growth worldwide, a mission that President Sheikh Mohamed leads with steadfast dedication.”
Strengthening the UAE’s Global Humanitarian Presence
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, underscored the UAE’s enhanced role in alleviating global suffering and fostering sustainable development. “The UAE Aid Agency reaffirms our dedication to providing assistance, improving livelihoods, and supporting communities around the world,” he remarked.
Sheikh Abdullah also emphasized the UAE’s commitment to working with international partners to maximize positive outcomes in areas affected by crises, with a particular focus on educational services, healthcare infrastructure, and essential support.
