In a swift and crucial humanitarian effort, Dubai Humanitarian has dispatched 192 tonnes of relief supplies from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to assist families displaced by the worsening conflict in Lebanon. This initiative, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, highlights Dubai’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities grappling with both conflict and the impending winter.

A fleet of 27 trucks, financed through Dubai Humanitarian’s Global Humanitarian Impact Fund, set off on November 4, delivering essential supplies by land to enhance the volume and speed of distribution. The aid mission targets the urgent needs of communities in Lebanon’s most affected areas, particularly the Bekaa Valley, South Lebanon, and the southern suburbs of Beirut, which have been severely impacted by recent escalations.

Prompt Humanitarian Action for Harsh Winter Conditions

“Driven by the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai stands resolutely with Lebanon,” remarked His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian. “This convoy symbolizes our strong partnership with the UNHCR, ensuring that displaced families receive immediate assistance as they brace for a challenging winter ahead.”

Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR Senior Advisor and Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the UAE’s ongoing support: “This substantial shipment reflects our shared humanitarian commitment with Dubai Humanitarian. These vital supplies will provide displaced families with some relief and protection as they confront harsh weather and uncertain futures after losing the safety of their homes.”

Critical Needs and Rising Displacement
The Lebanese government estimates that over 1.2 million people have been displaced by the ongoing crisis. The regions most affected by recent violence are experiencing unprecedented levels of displacement, with families being forced to flee.
