In a significant effort to bolster Dubai’s infrastructure and urban development, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a groundbreaking AED 3.7 billion plan for internal road development over the next five years (2025-2029). This initiative will involve the construction of 634 km of new roads, enhancing access and connectivity across 12 vital residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The plan is in line with Dubai’s rapid population growth and urban expansion, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents and solidify the city’s status as a global hub.

Comprehensive Road Development Across 12 Key Areas

The development project consists of 21 strategic initiatives spread across 12 areas, including both residential and industrial zones, with urbanization rates between 30% and 80%. His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), stated that the plan is tailored to meet the needs of both current and future residents, ensuring that Dubai’s infrastructure can support its growing population.

Key milestones of the development include the construction of internal roads in the Nad El Sheba 3 and Al Amardi areas in 2025, which will support the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment project that includes 482 new housing units. Hatta will also benefit from internal road improvements, accommodating another housing project with 100 units. In 2026, the RTA plans to construct 92 km of roads in Nadd Hessa and Al Awir 1, with additional expansions planned for the subsequent years.

Major Expansion Plans for 2028 and 2029

The five-year plan reaches its peak in 2028, featuring one of the largest projects of its kind, covering 284 km across three communities: Al Awir 1, Wadi Al Amardi, and Hind 3. This ambitious expansion will bring significant upgrades to Dubai’s internal road networks, ensuring smoother connectivity and improved accessibility.
