Red Alert Issued for Fog Across the UAE: Drivers Urged to Stay Cautious

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert on Tuesday as thick fog continues to blanket parts of the UAE. The weather department warned that visibility may drop further, especially in some coastal and internal areas, lasting until 9:30 AM.

The Abu Dhabi Police have urged motorists to drive cautiously due to the reduced visibility. In a post on X, the authority reminded drivers to follow changing speed limits displayed on electronic signs.

The fog has covered various areas of Abu Dhabi, as shown in the weather department’s map.

The weather is feeling more comfortable as the UAE moves into the winter season. With winter approaching, foggy mornings are becoming a more common occurrence. The weather department had also issued a red alert on the weekend and again on Monday morning, warning of reduced visibility.

While the forecast predicted fog in some areas this morning, the general weather today is expected to be fair with some periods of cloud cover. Humid conditions are expected at night, with the possibility of fog or mist forming over some coastal and inland areas early Wednesday.

Light to moderate winds are expected across the country. The sea will be calm in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
