In a heartwarming tribute to tradition, Abeer Al Masry, a Saudi woman with a love for baking, has revitalized her family’s iconic bakery in Medina. Her grandfather, a well-respected baker in the 1950s, was renowned for his cherished fatoot bread and his commitment to quality—a legacy that Abeer is now bringing back to life within the walls of her family’s 80-year-old heritage house.

In an interview with Saudi news TV Al Ekhbariya, Abeer recounted her journey: “My grandfather was well-known for his fatoot bread, and although he didn’t encourage his children to pursue the trade due to its demanding nature, my passion for baking transformed it into my true calling.” She began baking as a hobby, crafting traditional ma’amoul butter cookies, and quickly became a beloved name in Jeddah and Medina.

Abeer’s bakery has evolved into more than just a business; it stands as a living homage to her heritage and a celebration of Medina’s traditional flavors. The renovated bakery not only pays tribute to the craft of handmade bread but also showcases the unique architectural beauty of the family home, taking customers on a nostalgic journey. For both locals and visitors, Abeer’s bakery offers more than just bread—it serves as a gateway to Medina’s rich history.

As her bakery continues to thrive, Abeer is determined to pass on her grandfather’s legacy to future generations, safeguarding a culinary heritage that has been treasured for many years.
